Information about the CRHS CC Running team (Gr 7-12) is found here. If you are new to our program, check out the information in the pull downs of the blog for more information about who we are. The posts will be about what is currently happening. For those that are considering joining our teams, our summer training is a great place to see what the sport is all about. No cost or full commitment to the team. All we ask is to give it an honest try to see if this is the sport and team for you.

Section 5AA Results
Our individual results from tonight's Section 5AA meet are now posted on the right side of the blog. You can find the overall meet results at mtecresults.com. I have also updated the Season Bests now that all of our races are complete.
Tonight was the best overall meet for the team on the season. 30 of the 50 runners ran all time Personal Record's with an additional 6 that were able to run Season Personal Best's! The Boy's team led the way with all 7 Varsity, as well as 2 JV, runners finishing under 18 minutes, with that being 7 of 9 running all time PR's, one of the better overall showings for the Boy's in a number of years. But, with a tight Team competition, the Boy's were only able to finish 10th of 16 teams with the JV Boy's coming in 6th place. Noah Christiansen, 26th, and Reed Smith, 36th, led the way for the Cardinals.
The Girl's Varsity team had 5 of the 7 runners also run all time PR's, but having to go against some of the best teams in the State were able to finish in 12th of 16 teams and the JV finishing in 11th of 14 teams. Sarah Eichstadt, 44th, and Ilsa Hoaglund, 51st, were the top Cardinals to lead the way.
Great Job on the season to all of the Runners!!

Below is a link to the information for Thursday's Section 5AA Meet at Anoka High School. This will be the last meet for most of the team, but also the opportunity to qualify for the State Meet at St. Olaf on Saturday, Nov. 3rd.
Section 5AA Information
Those that qualify for the State Meet will be the 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as the 8 fastest runners that are not on those two teams. The weather is looking like temp wise will be perfect for fast times, hard to say if it will stay dry or not though.
If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

ABC 3K
Here are the start times for tomorrow’s 3K at Greenhaven Golf Course in Anoka:
Girls at 3:45
Boys at 4:10
This is a laid back run, not a meet that we are counting towards anything. There will be no results or awards and we will be using this as a workout.
If there are any questions, let me know.
Thanks!

NWSC Results
It was a wet, muddy, and a little chilly day for some good old cross country running! There were some PR's and some individual awards as well. 9 Individuals were able to run PR's and a course that was getting muddier and softer as the meet progressed. We were also able to gain a few individual awards. Noah Christiansen and Reed Smith both got All-Conference while Isaac Johnson, Peyton Martinek, Andre Kemboi, and Levi Taylor (all 2 seconds apart!!), as well as Sarah Eichstadt for the Girls, were all able to secure an All-Conference Honorable Mention!
Overall results can be found by clicking on Gopher State Events above on the blog or by going to this link: NWSC Meet
Next up are a couple of workout/Time Trials next week, with the ABC 3K at Greenhaven on Tuesday against Anoka and Blaine, and the JK5K, which is strictly a workout, but it is on the Section Course as we prepare for the Section Meet the next week.
If there are any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Denny

This just came out for tomorrow's NWSC Meet at the Elk River Country Club. The meet is still on but there are some changes.

Bus Parking: No Bus parking at the Golf Course. Please ask your bus drivers to park South of the Golf Course, in the neighborhood on the East Side of County Road 1. We would like to avoid having athletes crossing the road.
Spectator Parking: Due to rain and wet grounds, there will be no spectator parking on the Golf Course Driving Range. Please ask your families to car pool and park at either Woodland Trails or in the neighborhood. (Note from Denny: Woodland Trails is a very small parking lot, so you would need to get there early to get one of those spots. If you end up parking in the neighborhood, it is across the road from the golf course, but it is also a four lane County Road that is very busy, especially at the time of the races, so please be careful crossing. But, please give yourself plenty of time to get to the start.)
Course: Due to rain and a wet course, we will run a different course than in years past.

NWSC Meet
Here is the time schedule and line up for Wednesday's Northwest Suburban Conference Meet at the Elk River Country Club. Just a forewarning for Parking at the Conference Meet, most people will be able to park on the driving range that is north of the main lots, but some may have to park on the street that will be a little bit of a walk. This is a busy road, so if you do end up parking on a neighborhood street, beware trying to cross to get to the course. Also, with the predicted rain this week, it is possible that the golf course says "No" to anyone parking on the driving range. If there is any change in that, I will let you know.
Elk River (Conference Championships): 20015 Elk Lake Rd. Highway 10 west to Proctor Ave. inElk River , go north (right). Go 2 miles to the Elk River Country Club, which will be on the right. Additional parking will be available at Woodland Trails, just north of the Country Club.
Schedule:
3:15 Boys Varsity
3:55 Girls Varsity
4:35 Boys JV
5:15 Girls JV
6:00 Awards

Thundering Royal Elk Invite Results
Results from today's Thundering Royal Elk Invite are now posted on the right side of the blog. You can find overall results by clicking on GopherStateEvents at the top of the blog page, then go through the results page at the top.
Continued improvement is happening and we are getting closer to where we should be and want to be. We still have a lot of work and we also need to get a couple of more healthy to be at full strength for the boys and girls. Of the runners that competed today, there were 21 all-time PR's and an additional 14 season PR's, with many of those close to hitting their all-time best. Considering we are 3 weeks from the Section Meet and the last race for most of the runners, things are building in the right direction and are looking positive for us to have our best race at that point.
Next up is the Conference Meet on Wednesday at the Elk River Country Club. To help get ready for that meet we will be practicing on Saturday morning at 9:00, meeting at the CR Dam Visitor Center.
Thanks for all of those that came out to support the runners tonight!
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

Mustang and Griak Invites
Our individual results from this weekends races are now posted on the right side of the blog. Overall meet results for Friday's Mustang Invite can be found by clicking on RaceberryJam at the top of the blog and you can find Saturday's Roy Griak Invite results at the following link: Roy Griak Results
On an overall, the weekend was a big positive even with the events of Homecoming being a part of our week. With the Griak Invite, we had one of our better all around performances in a number of years with the boys finishing in 13th out of 53 teams and the girls finishing 37th out of 49 teams. It's always a tough day with the number of runners and teams as well as the fans and the more challenging course, but all of our runners showed their best effort which resulted in our improvements
With the Mustang Invite, despite a completely confusing course and myself telling one of our girls to go the wrong way (Ugh) and a race official telling another of our girls to go the wrong way, there were 20 All Time PR's and additional 9 Season PR's of the 31 that ran.
There is a busy week ahead as we get back into our usual practice routine with Thursday races, but having to put a Saturday workout in since the Conference Meet the next week was moved to a Wednesday, thus making it where we lose a day of training that week since we cannot practice on Sunday. Saturday's practice will be at 9:00am at the CR Dam.
Thanks and any questions, let me know,

Sorry for the last second notification on this, but the runners decided this last night. But both will be wearing alternative uniforms today at The Griak. The boys will be in all black with a red and white CR on the chest, while the girls will be in white tips with Red and Black Coon Rapids written on the chest, but they will wear their normal shorts.

Mega Meet Results
Our individual results are now posted on the right side of the blog. A much better overall day for the runners as the weather was wonderful and times were starting to show the work that they have been putting in. We had 38 of the 48 the ran yesterday have either a Season Personal Record or an all-time Personal Record, and knowing that the course was a little soft in a few places because of the wet soil and the number of people that were running on the course, that is a big positive step forward for us!
But, we all got to experience why it is a Mega Meet with the number of teams and individuals that were there competing. It is the largest High School Cross Country Meet in the World and it is always a fun day of racing when we get a chance to get up there!
Thanks to all of the parents that were there supporting! Not always easy to hear you cheering when there are so many people there cheering and music playing, but it does help and it is nice to be able to see you out there!
Next up is the Mustang Invite on Friday for the JV runners and the Roy Griak Invite on Saturday for the Varsity. These team line ups will be posted some time tomorrow to help you plan
Any questions, let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

No Monday Practice
After talking it over with the coaches, we have decided to give the runners tomorrow, Monday, off, so no practice! With a long week of heat behind us and with having a meet on Saturday again, we felt it would be in the best interest of everyone to get another day off. So, go home after school, stay hydrated, get healthy, and stay on top of your school work!>

Lakeville Apple Jack Invite Results
Results for today's meet are now posted on the right side of the blog with the overall meet results posted here: Lakeville Apple Jack Invite
As for the meet, well, it was a hot one to say the least! Personal and Season bests were at a premium, with those in the C Race having the best opportunities to run at their best, which really showed where we are at as a team. We talked with our Varsity and JV runners to be smart and safe and not concern themselves with pushing really hard and if they didn't feel at their best because of the heat to back down or pull themselves out.
But, as mentioned, the C Race runners showed a great performance with the Girls finishing in 5th out of 10 teams lead by Lilah G, Akala L, and Eliana C finishing 4 seconds apart and placing 19th, 20th, and 21st. The Boys team finished an impressive 2nd out of 13 teams, lead by the 2nd place finish of Peyton M, 5th place of Josh T, and the 7th place finish of Ryan P!
With the Varsity and JV runners we are proud of how smart they ran and put more emphasis on being safe and being able to race another day. We didn't finish in the team places we would have liked going into this meet, nor had the times that they would have aimed for, but the heat was taking its toll on everyone and to be able to come out of this day healthy is the most important part!
Next up will be the Milaca Mega Meet next Saturday, which could be 25 degrees cooler!!! YESSS! lol!
Thanks for all of the support from the parents that were there today and also a big thanks to many of our Boys from the C Race that helped with the wet cold towels and getting them to all of our runners as they finished!! It's great to see the care for our team and make sure all are able to feel better when they finish!
Thanks,
Denny

Cardinal Mile
We as a team have decided that we will not be doing the Cardinal Mile this year as a part of the Homecoming Parade. We will still be a part of the parade, creating a float and being in the parade this year, but just want to go back and have a little fun as we are a part of the parade, and bring back the Homecoming Parade Float Trophy to the Cross Country Team!

Bauman/Rovn Results
Our individual results are now posted on the right side of the blog. Overall meet results can be found on the Gopher State Events link on the top of the blog. They did have a few technical glitches with the time, so some of the times may be off a little. On the way home, the Girls Varsity times were all 5 seconds off.
On an overall, there were many positives on the day. Team results don't show the improvements that so many of our runners had, but to be on a harder course this week, there were many that ran faster this week, and still many PRs for their efforts. In the Middle School/Junior High race, 13 of our 17 runners ran faster than they did two weeks ago and with those that ran 5K today, there were 18 runners that ran a season or all time PR!
Thanks to all of the parents and family members that came out today! If you are planning to order a Super Fan shirt, which will help spot Coon Rapids fans at the meets, please remember that the orders need to be in by next Wednesday, Sep 12.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

Monday and Weather
We are paying attention to the rain/storms that may be coming our way later this evening. At this moment, we are going to move forward with our plans to practice at 6:30, meeting at the soccer complex by Epiphany. It currently looks like it may just be a little rain at some point during the practice, but with tomorrow looking more like an all day rain/storm, thus having to do something indoors, we want to try to get this workout in for sure. If there are any changes, I will let you know as soon as I can.
Thanks and any questions, please let me know,

Super Fan T-Shirts
Here is a link to something we want to do this year for our fans. We will introduce it to the runners on Monday and Tuesday at practices, but we would like to have fan shirts this year. The link is an order form that you can print off and return to me by September 12th. You can put the name of who you are supporting or your last name as well. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.
Update: For those that are wanting to buy a Super Fan shirt for a size that is bigger than what is listed, Add a dollar for every size it goes up starting at a 2xl would be +$2, 3xl would be +$3, and so on
Thanks

Thursday's Results
Our individual results are now posted on the right side of the blog. Once we have a few more meets in us I'll also update the Season Bests.
On an overall, there were many solid performances and PR's (personal records). We were missing a couple of our top boys and one of our top girls had to stop, but we are a young team and a lot of the runners are still trying to find who they are and how they need to race. But, they all held their own and raced all the way through the line, and that is big thing we are looking for at the beginning of the season. Now that we have a 5K race completed, we can start to look at what we need to work on the most and if there are any changes we have to make.
Next meet will be on Thursday, Sep. 6 at Gail Woods Farm near Minnetrista. This will be a bigger meet, with some of the better teams in the metro and state participating on a course that is more challenging. Right now, temps look like they will be better than they were when we raced there last year, so we are hoping it can give us a better picture of how we are progressing.
If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

Running Camp Info
Below is some more detailed information about camp. If you are still wanting to come with, please let me know. Also, if there are any parents that would still like to come with us as well, we would love to have you with. Thanks!
Thanks!
Running Camp Information Aug. 24-26
Running camp is a week away and we
felt we should inform everyone that is going some of the items to look for and
bring for the three days of running.
We will be heading to William
O’Brien State Park near Marine on St. Croix, on Friday, August 24 around
11:00am and it will be a cost of $10.
The drive will be around 1 hour, depending on traffic. Cell phone coverage should be decent out
there.
Some items that should be brought with include:
-
A towel, bathroom items
-
Sleeping Bag/Pillow
-
Tent (We will share tents, this will need to be set up
soon so we know who is to bring one)
-
Bug Spray, Sun Screen
-
Stuff for swimming
-
A pair of warm up pants or jeans for at night
-
A sweatshirt or jacket
-
Clothes to run in, including shoes.
-
For food, dinner will be covered.
-
The runners should bring items for breakfast, lunch and
snacking as well as beverages (to cut down on garbage, think of bringing a
water bottle and mix packets, not cases of bottles) for all meals.
-
Other items that can be taken with include games,
music, and a water bottle or two.
-
Please remind your athlete that we are only going for 2
nights, 3 days, so a ton of stuff is not needed, think about sharing coolers
with other runners.
We will be leaving camp around 12:00 on Sunday the 26th
and should be arriving back at the high school around 1:00.
Any questions, let me know Thanks, Denny
