State

A beautiful day was enhanced by great performances by the Cardinal runners at the State Meet today!! All three of our runners, Ruby, Lachlan, and Owen moved up in the standings throughout their races from the start and through each mile all the way to the finish, to all have solid races for themselves! Ruby started the day off with a solid 61st overall placing out of the 160 runners that competed and ran her second fastest time ever!  Then Lachlan and Owen learned quick how fast the boys go out at State, but held their own and moved to run their races! Owen finished in 142nd to end his Cardinal CC career with a smile, and Lachlan moved into the top 20 finishing 19th overall in his second fastest time, and for just the fourth time in CRCC history, he became just the third Cardinal boy to earn All State!!!

Thanks to the over 40 CR runners, family and friends that came with to support our runners!! There was a lot of positive energy and something we are going to want to harness and build off of!! It was a great day to be a Cardinal Runner!
Thanks,
Denny

Section 7AAA Meet

Here are a couple of items for the Section Meets on Thursday, Oct 24 for the Varsity and JV.  A list of who will be running Varsity is also below.  Those not listed will be running in the JV races.

This will be the last meet of the season for most of the team, but also the opportunity to qualify for the State Meet at the U of M Golf Course on Saturday, Nov. 2nd.  Please note that the Varsity will be in the late morning/early afternoon and that the JV runners will be late in the afternoon.  We will actually have two bus times and the Varsity will come back after the awards.

Those that qualify for the State Meet will be the 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as the 6 fastest runners that are not on those two teams.  The weather is looking like temp wise will be perfect for fast times, hard to say at this time if there will be any rain or not.

There has been a slight change in the course due to some construction on the west end of the property.  The course will now be 3 laps, with 2 of the laps being 2K and 1 being 1K (Order has not been decided).  The 1K lap will be mostly the second half of the usual loop, with the addition of short straight at the top of the start hill. If I can get a map to share I will.

Also, please remember that there are no dogs allowed.  We don't want a dog getting lose during the race and interfering with a runner.

Varsity times:
Bus Leaves at 9:15

Week of September 30th

Here are a few quick things for the week ahead for everyone to prepare for:

Thursday evening is the HOKA ONE ONE/Cardinal Cup 2 mile on the track.  We are wanting the runners at the track at 6:00pm and we will run the first at 7:00 and the second at 7:30 (we will have the runners decide on Wednesday if the Boys or Girls will be first).  Something that we would like to try continuing this year is to have the "Future Cardinal" 1 or 2 lap run in between the two races.  So, please bring any younger siblings as well as let others you may know to come as well to come participate!

This week is Homecoming and on Friday the Boys team will be running the game ball for the football game in before the game, this year from Maple Grove.  It is a 12 mile jaunt, in which we will divide the Boys into two groups, each running about 6 miles.  We will have a bus and it will be leaving at 4:00.  The Girls team will still have practice at the same time.

Lastly, due to the fact that the Conference Meet the following week is on a Wednesday, we are going to have a Saturday morning practice to help prepare for that meet.  We will be on the track at 8:00am.

Thanks,
Denny

Cambridge Invite

A positive day of weather turned into a positive evening of racing as 33 Cardinal Runners ran season best times, with 17 of those runners accomplishing an All Time Personal Record!!  Ruby started the days events off with another positive finish, a 5th place overall finish in the Girls Varsity race, and moved herself into 2nd in the All Time CR Girls 5K times! We only had 3 girls in the Varsity race, so they were an incomplete team.  Lachlan then took charge of the Boys Varsity race again and led from start to finish, winning his second race on the season!  The Boys team finished in 2nd out of the 9 teams competing, with Kjell helping in 9th, Owen in 10th, and Marco in 13th.

The JV teams then brought it all together with solid performances up and down the roster.  Emily led the Girls JV with a 7th place finish, as Ella was 11th, Mackenzie 12th, Faith 16th and Milk in 20th to help the Girls to a solid 2nd place team finish!  On the Boys side, in a very tight team race, the Boys JV finished in 3rd, just 5 points out of 1st, led by Josh in 2nd, Dagi in 4th, Jeremy in 7th and Albi in 15th!

It was a big, positive step for the whole team, but one in which we know that it was still not a perfect day of racing.  We have some work to do and we will continue to put forth some good efforts in our practices as we get ready for the bigger meets.

Thanks to all of our families, fans and supporters that made it to the meet!

Griak/Osceola Meet Results

A busy weekend, with all sorts of interesting twists, is over and a lot of positives were found! A big Congratulations to Lachlan as he led most of the Gold Race in Friday's Griak Invite and finished in an impressive 2nd place overall and helped the team to a 6th place finish out of 35 teams! This is the highest placing Cardinal in any of the Griak races!! Owen, 37th, Marco, 46th, Kjell, 66th, all also had high placings!  On the Girls side, Ruby also was able to earn on a spot on the awards stand with an equally impressive 11th place finish, moving up all throughout the race.  As a team, the Girls were a little short-handed, only able to run 5 girls, but still fought out a 31st finish out of 35 teams.

On Saturday's Osceola Invite, the rest of our team competed against other schools Varsity teams and held there own.  The Girls finished in 8th out of 11 teams led by first year runners Milk and Mackenzie, while the Boys finished in 11th out of 13 teams, led by Dagi and Tate!  It was a tough course, made more challenging with the rain just prior to the start of the races, as well as even more sketchy for the Boys as another storm was coming in as they were finishing!

Thanks to all of the parents and fans that came out to watch! Also, a big Thanks to the Fuller's for helping take down the tents as a storm was approaching and the kids were still racing!!

All of our results, plus links to the overall meet results are also posted, and can be found on the right side of the blog.

Lastly, below is the information for Tuesday's Cambridge Invite.  Please note, this is at a new location, Purple Hawk Golf Course!

First race is at 4:15 and then it will be a rolling clock, so exact times of the next races are not known.

Griak Transportation Concern

Good Evening,
Late this morning I was notified that we currently do not have a bus for the Roy Griak Invite, however, it is something that our AD Secretary has been working on non-stop since trying to figure out something.  If we are not able to have a bus for getting to the meet, everyone is allowed to drive down, ride with a parent, carpool.  If this becomes the situation, we do suggest, especially the Boys that are racing, that their ride leaves as soon after school as possible.  Parking and getting on a shuttle to the venue can take a long time, and we would like everyone to be there an hour before their race, so leaving right after school will be very important.

If we are able to get a bus figured out, which may not happen until the morning, I will message everyone as soon as possible to make sure we are all on the same page and we are able to leave when the bus will be scheduled, which will most likely be during the school day (we are checking to see if we can get a bus if we leave at 1:00 or even noon).

Our bus for Saturday morning is still scheduled as planned, leaving at 7:30am, so there are no concerns with that ride.  I have, however, told the runners to have everything with them and to not expect to be able to get into the school on Saturday morning.

Sorry for any possible issues for Friday, and please let me know if there is a need for a ride or if a parent is intending to drive their runner(s) down no matter if we are able to get a bus or not.

Thanks,
Denny

Griak/Osceola Information

Below is the information for both Friday's Roy Griak Invite at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in St Paul, and Saturday's Osceola Invite at the Osceola Intermediate School.  For Friday, we are in the Gold Division for both the boys and the girls races.  Start times are 4:30 for boys and 5:15 for girls.  For Saturday, there is only one race for the Girls (10:00) and one for the Boys (10:30). Please note that at both races, pets are Not allowed.

One other item of note, the Girls team will be wearing Pink uniform tops for both days. We are hoping it will be easier to spot our Girls during the Griak race.

Lastly, for those that will be running on Saturday, they are all more than welcome to come with and watch the races on Friday, though we would still like for them to do their workout.   For any of the JV that do not come along, you will still have practice and a workout to do.  Also, for Saturday's races, those that raced on Friday are welcome to come with for support.

Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

St Francis Invite Results

Congratulations to Lachlan as he won his first high school Varsity race on Thursday at the St Francis Invite, leading from start to finish by himself to help lead the Boys team to a 2nd place finish out of 7 teams!  Owen was also a medalist with a solid 6th place finish just a few seconds out of a top 5 finish!

On the Girls side, Ruby continues to improve have strong runs, this time finishing in 5th place against one of the top teams in the state with two of the top girls individually as well in the state!!  Due to illnesses, though, the Girls team was an incomplete in the final team rankings.

Other top finishers on the day went to Mackenzie, as she took 3rd in the Girls Middle School race to earn her first medal in CC, and Faith, who was 7th in the Girls JV race, which got a little off course on the first lap, thus shorting their total distance to about 2.91 miles vs 5K.

Temps were warm, it was a new course for the Cardinal Runners, and weren't always clear, but it was a positive step for the team.  We will be needing to be watching everyone's health a little more over the next week to make sure the illnesses that are currently with individuals on the team don't spread through the rest of the team.  Thanks to all of the families and fans that made it out to the races!! Here also is a link to some pictures taken by Barb: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ajaeN4a3ceF_MQb50yNTX9P6yeD6Siuu  Other pictures are being posted on our Facebook page, but if there are others out there, let me know and I can get them out to everyone!

Next up is the Roy Griak Invite on Friday for the Varsity runners and the Osceola Invite on Saturday for the JV runners.  I will put information on both meets as well as rosters in a couple of days.

Thanks
Denny

Bauman/Rovn Results

A positive step forward for the runners in yesterday's Bauman/Rovn Invite on a more challenging course and against some of the best teams and runners in the State!

Lachlan continues to rise the ranks of all time Cardinal Runners, as he ran a personal record and finished an impressive 8th place finish in the Varsity race and moving into a tie for 23rd in the Sub 17 Club.

Ruby led the Girls as she continues to return and had a very solid 20th place overall in the Girls Varsity race against some of the top girls in the State.

In the Junior High/Middle School races, Jeremy was less than 10 seconds away from a victory as he finished in a solid 3rd place finish.

Next up is the St Francis Invite on Thursday, September 12th at the Ponds Golf Course.

Thanks to all of those that were able to come out and support the runners!
