Monticello Results

More positives but many things to work on as the runners completed their second meet of the season at the Monticello Invite. The boys were led by the 4th overall placing of Paul Breitbach as the boys finished in 3rd of 14 teams. The Varsity girls finished in 10th of 13 and were lead by Bryna DelCastillo. Other award winners were Aliana Hedlund, as she won the girls JV race, and Brook DelCastillo,14th, and Julie Hedlund, 19th, in the Middle School race.
Our individual results will be posted on the rightside of our blog page under "Results" tomorrow morning/afternoon but you can find the overall meet results by clinking on "Gopher State Results" above, then click on "CC Running" under "School Results" at the top and then our results will be under "Monticello Invite."

Monticello Invite

Here are the directions and basic info for Thursday's meet in Monticello. I am also adding a link to the course map.  It will not be a very fan friendly race, but there will be a couple of areas that you can see the runners multiple times on the course.

Monticello Invite (Bertram Regional Park): This is a new location.  Go west on Hwy 10 to Big Lake.  Take a left onto State Hwy 25 and continue into Monticello.  Take a right onto Broadway St and go 7 blocks and take a left onto Elm St, then veer right onto County Rd 39. Go 2.5 miles and then take a left onto Brianwood Ave.  Park entrance is about a mile on the left.

Monday, Sep 5th

Just a reminder that there will be practice this evening at 6:30pm at the CR Dam.  We will need to be aware on the weather and if it looks like it will be storming we will make a decision and I will let everyone know. Also, now that school is starting tomorrow, we will be going to our normal schedule for practices, starting at 3:15 from the front of the high school.  Practices usually will end between 5:00-5:15.
Our meet on Thursday will be in Monticello with the first race at 4:00.  I will put up a full schedule of events on Wednesday evening with directions to the course, but there will be 6 races at this meet, 3 for the girls and 3 for the boys.

Pasta Parties

I am going to put up a schedule for Pasta Parties on the right side of the blog under schedules. If there is a date that you would like to host one, please leave a comment with this post. Please note that we will have separate parties for the boys and the girls, but if you would like to do one for both teams the same night, you are more than welcomed to.  Also note that we will be having the parties not the night before the meet, but two nights before. One reason for this is to try and see how the carbs effect the runners one day further out (ideal carb load is 36 hours before competition), but also because a lot of our meets are on Thursday's and there is a few of our runners that are in religion classes on Wednesday evenings, so we want to make sure they are able to attend as well. Plus, for the three meets on Saturday, we don't want to compete with those that want to go to the football games.

Anoka Results

It was a very positive start to the race season this morning as the Boys were able to finish in 1st in the 5 team meet, led by the 3rd place finish of Paul Breitbach, and the Girls were able to finish in 3rd of the 5 teams, lead by the 5th place finish of Bryna DelCastillo!  There were many who were on the team that ran much faster than they did last year in this meet, thus helping the teams to move up in the standings as well as start on a good note.

There will be practice on Friday morning 8:00am at the high school and then no scheduled practice until Monday at 6:30pm, meeting at the CR Dam.  I still would like the runners to still get in some workouts over the weekend, but also wanting them to bring things down a bit and to enjoy their last weekend of summer.

Thursday's Race

Reminder that tomorrow is the first meet of the season. We will be running at Anoka High School on the section course. Bus leaves at 8:45 with the boys running at 10:00 and the girls at 10:40.

Schedule for the Week

Here is our schedule for the rest of the week,
Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:15, meeting at the high school. Wednesday we will be getting uniforms at 3:00.
Thursday is our first meet at Anoka High School. We will be leaving at 8:45 with the first race, the boys, at 10:00, then the girls at 10:45ish.
We will also be working the concession stand at the football game Thursday evening as a fundraiser, so we will need help from the runners.
Friday we will have practice at 8:00am at the high school. There will not be any practice over the weekend. We will then get back together on Monday at 6:30pm, meeting at the CR Dam.
