Information about the CRHS CC Running team (Gr 7-12) is found here. If you are new to our program, check out the information in the pull downs of the blog for more information about who we are. The posts will be about what is currently happening. For those that are considering joining our teams, our summer training is a great place to see what the sport is all about. No cost or full commitment to the team. All we ask is to give it an honest try to see if this is the sport and team for you.

Section 5AA Results
Congratulations to all of the runners today as we had our best overall meet of the season at the Section 5AA Meet. As our season came to an end, we as coaches are proud to see the work put in during the season come to a high point. Of the 36 runners that finished today, 20 of them ran all time Personal Records while another 11 ran Seasonal Records for themselves!!
Thanks for all of the support from everyone today and on the season!

Section Info and Line Up
Below is a link to the information for Thursday's Section 5AA Meet at Anoka High School. This will be the last meet for most of the team, but also the opportunity to qualify for the State Meet at St. Olaf on Saturday, Nov. 2nd.
Section Information - PLEASE READ
Those that qualify for the State Meet will be the 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as the 8 fastest runners that are not on those two teams. The weather is looking like temp wise will be perfect for fast times, hard to say if it will stay dry or not though.
Here is the line up for Thursday's Section 5AA Meet. Also, we are needing one person (or two to split the races) to help with crowd control during the race. We would like to have one for the Girls race, and one for the Boys race, but if we only have one that will be fine as well. Let me know if you would like to help.
Thanks

ABC 3K and Practice for MEA
Here are the start times for tomorrow’s 3K at Greenhaven Golf Course in Anoka:
Girls at 4:00
Boys at 4:20ish
This is a laid back run, not a meet that we are counting towards anything. There will be no results or awards and we will be using this as a workout to work on things for next week.
Also, here are the times and locations for practices for the rest of the week since we do not have school on Thursday and Friday.
Thursday: Bus leaves the high school at 9:00, heading to Anoka High School for workout. We will not be doing the JK5K this year, just a workout.
Friday: 10:00am at the high school
If there are any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Denny

NWSC Meet
Here is the time schedule and line up for Thursday's Northwest Suburban Conference Meet at the Elk River Country Club. Just a forewarning for Parking at the Conference Meet, most people will be able to park on the driving range that is north of the main lots, but some may have to park on the street that will be a little bit of a walk. This is a busy road, so if you do end up parking on a neighborhood street, beware trying to cross to get to the course. Also, with the predicted rain this week, it is possible that the golf course says "No" to anyone parking on the driving range. If there is any change in that, I will let you know.
Elk River (Conference Championships): 20015 Elk Lake Rd. Highway 10 west to Proctor Ave. inElk River , go north (right). Go 2 miles to the Elk River Country Club, which will be on the right. Additional parking will be available at Woodland Trails, just north of the Country Club.
Schedule:
3:15 Girls Varsity
3:55 Boys Varsity
4:35 Girls JV
5:15 Boys JV
6:00 Awards

Thundering Royal Elk Results
Our individual results and a link to the overall results are now posted on the right side of the blog.
Today was a big overall step forward for the team and many of the individuals. The Boys team for both the Varsity and the JV teams finished in 4th place with our top 5 Varsity Boys all finishing within 35 seconds of each other, all under 18 mins for the first time this season, led by Noah Christiansen in 18th place. Aaron Casey (10th) and Ryan Powley (15th) led the way for the JV as the depth of the Boys team starts to really grow. Nolan Hazelwood was our fastest in the middle school finishing in 20th place
The Girls team also had its best meet of the season and showed a lot of overall improvement with the top 3 Girls all running season PR's and finishing 22 seconds apart, led by Ilsa Hoaglund. Kendall Martinek (8th) and Keria Dickens (15th) were the highest placing individuals on the day as they competed in the middle school race.
Great job by all today, still room for improvement, but we saw a different mentality in the team within their races and they were really fighting to do the best they could today, and it was fun to watch!!
Tomorrow, Friday, will be picture day at the CR Dam for our practice. We will be meeting at the Dam for our practice in which we will take our team and individual pictures first (please bring uniforms), and then we will do our workout.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,

Mega Meet Results
Well, that was about as interesting of a meet as one will see, with the storm delay before we started, the mud and the down pour just before the Boys Varsity race that made the course even muddier, causing even more runners to slip and slide, and occasionally slide into water.
However slow all of the times were, and how they got slower as the day went on, the Cardinal runners kept running and did what they could to finish. There were a few bumps and bruises, but we are hoping we came out of the day healthy and that we can move on from it. With the number of runners that were there and the course conditions, we really focused on trying to stay relaxed, embrace the mud, and get through the race as positive as they could. We know some struggled and others enjoyed themselves, but we did have some solid performances and even a few Personal Bests. Two of the youngest on the team probably had the best overall days, with Nico C and Kendall M both improving a lot time wise as well as within the team rankings! It is always fun to see someone still learning the sport and about themselves go out and have a really good day in tough conditions!!
Overall meet results can be found by clicking on the link above for Gopher State Events. Go through their results and click on Milaca Mega Meet. I will have our individual times up later today or tomorrow.
Lastly, if ever there was a day to understand why kids do Cross Country Running and why it should be a sport that more should really take a serious look at doing, it was yesterday. Even with the delay at the beginning, the change in schedule, conditions getting worse, and the slow times, it was a great day to be a runner. Talking to coaches that were former runners, they were wishing they could run and missing the days they had similar to this. During the delay, all runners were sent to the closest bus, teams getting seperated and having to intermingle with other teams, yet when one was to walk between the alley of buses, they were all having a great time, talking between buses, talking to those walking by and enjoying themselves. There was also the impromptu water slide before the races started as the ditches filled with water and runners, fans, and coaches alike, lining the ditch cheering each other on (my guess is that many videos were posted on social media yesterday, so if you missed it, you might be able to find it online!!). But the fun and togetherness didn't stop there. In what other sport would you have the Varsity Boys lined up and then have the sky's open up with rain only to hear the whole field start cheering, with the energy level going up even more? Or seeing hundreds of JV Boys start chanting "JV, JV,..." in unison before they started to run, and what was nice was that the JV Girls started to do the same thing before their race, which was the first time I have seen that. It is a sport that many want to push to the side because it is "running" and everyone must be crazy to run that far. But, in actuality, it might be the best sport for everyone. Everyone is the same, no matter how fast or slow they are, everyone is getting cheered on and everyone gets to be a part of the fun and excitement, just look at the start of all of the races, wow!! Right up to the end though, it was a good day to be a runner. Walk around the course and you will see runners every where cheering on those still running, but also joining together in and around a creek rinsing themselves from the mud collected in the race, and just having fun. So if you were there, you got to experience what it can truly be like to embrace being a runner, and if you have been wondering if you should join running as a sport or just to get yourself doing some exercise, check out the 2019 Milaca Mega Meet online for videos and you will see what running can bring to life!!
Thanks and glad to see so many of you out there yesterday!!

Lakeville Invite Results
Our individual results, as well as the overall results, are now posted on the right side of the blog. When on the overall results page, make sure you are clicking through the 2019 Lakeville Applejack results, for there are other results that pop up.
Despite the wet conditions and the cooler winds, we had an overall better day and showed improvements as a team. The Boys Varsity led the way with a solid 7th overall place finish out of 17 teams with the top 5 boys finishing 16 seconds apart. Being close together seemed to be a positive theme for the team yesterday as in 5 of the 6 races we had a lot of runners being close to each other, which is good solid team running and is the reason the boys were able to finish in 7th, despite not having anyone in the top 35.
We did, however, have 3 medalists in their respective races! Congrats to Aaron Casey for running a smart race and moving up throughout to finish in a solid 4th place in the Boys C Race! Also Congrats to Elaina Cocciarella, moving up through the race to finish in 5th, and Julie Hedlund who led the first half of the race in her first race back to finish in 7th place in the Girls C Race! Great races across the board but still much room for improvement as we know there were many that still did not have the race that they wanted. Next up is next Saturday at the Milaca Mega Meet, an all day meet that will have races for all, including an open citizen 2 mile race at the end for any of you that are interested!!
As for this next week, there will not be a scheduled practice on Monday due to the long weeks that are coming up and the weather we had this last week, but the Captains will be putting together a Team Bonding event for after school on Monday. They will be getting information out to everyone on what is happening some time this weekend. If there are any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Denny
Despite the wet conditions and the cooler winds, we had an overall better day and showed improvements as a team. The Boys Varsity led the way with a solid 7th overall place finish out of 17 teams with the top 5 boys finishing 16 seconds apart. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier, thought they would have been done sooner, but for getting to the meet tomorrow 35W exit to off of 94 is still closed, so you will need to come up with a different option. You could go 35E, which will take you to St Paul, or take Hwy 100 to 62 or 494.

Lakeville Invite
Below is a link to all of the information for Friday's Lakeville Invite as well as the time schedule and directions to the meet. The time of the meet has been moved up with the first race now starting at 3:25. Also, the reason for just a link is that there are many maps that you will need to look at for parking, so make sure you go through those. But, parking is limited so please plan accordingly and know that you may need to either walk a bit or take the shuttle they will have. If there are any questions, please let me know. I will put the team roster out tomorrow so you can plan more.
Thanks,
Denny

Bauman/Rovn Invite Results
Our Individual, as well as the Overall Meet, Results are now posted on the right side of the blog.
A warm long day on a challenging course and against some of the best teams and individuals in the State is what the runners faced yesterday. There were many positives and we are looking at what the runners themselves mentioned for the areas we did well in and what can still work on, and not necessarily the results. Many ran stronger this week with that more challenging course and there was a determination by all to finish and compete, even if they were not at their best. We look at a meet like this early in the season as a stepping stone as well as one that we learn more about ourselves.
Thanks for the parents that made the trip out to Gail Woods and for your support. Next up is the Lakeville Invite. Please note that the day, now Friday, and the location, Steve Michaud Park, are different than what we have had in the past for this meet.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

Store Reopened
During the summer, we opened an apparel store through a company the school would like us to use, but we knew that not everyone would be signed up or had decided if they were going to join by then. So, we have reopened the store and it will only be open until September 9th so we can hopefully get any apparel ordered before the end of the season. Follow the link below and any questions, please let me know. For those that did place an order this summer, I am hoping that those items will be here shortly.

District 11 Results
Our individual results for today's District 11 Meet are now posted on the right side of the blog under Results. You will also be able to find the overall meet results at the top of the results as well. The Boy's results will pop up first, but on the top right of the page you can switch to the Girls results.
Today was a positive first step in our meet schedule. The Boy's started the team off with 3 boys in the top 7, lead by Mike Smith in 4th, Reed Smith in 6th and Peyton Martinek in 7th. The Girl's were lead by Ilsa Hoaglund with a solid 10th place finish, followed by the 14th place finish of Sarah Eichstadt.
We know that not everyone had the race that they were wanting, but it is the first race of the season and now is the time to miss on a couple of things. We were also a couple of guys short due to classes, which could have put the Boy's into first as a team, but they started the season in 3rd with 8 points separating the top 4 teams. We were also not 100% on the Girl's side, so we looked at the small steps we have taken as an overall team and what we can work on as we move onto the next race. We really want to focus on the positives that everyone had today but also we are wanting the runners to think about some areas that they want to work on or felt they could do better with. As we go into our next race, we are hoping to have learned and become stronger based on the areas that everyone feel they need to improve on.
Next up will be the Bauman/Rovn at Gail Woods next Thursday. Before then, we will have practice on Friday at 8:00am at the High School and then we won't meet up again until 6:30pm on Monday evening at Moor Park. Once school starts will be meeting most days at the High School at 3:15 so the middle school runners on the team have time to get over to practice.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

Cardinal Cup Results
Results from tonight's Cardinal Cup Time Trial are now posted on the right side of the blog.
Thanks for all that were able to make it tonight and to support the runners. There were some big positives, especially with a little more challenging course, but still a lot of room for improvements. We are hoping that we are preparing ourselves for a positive for race next Thursday, but until then we will keep putting in our time and get everyone ready.
Thanks,
Denny
