As we look back to yesterday, most would say that their season best would not have been at that meet. There were a few that were able to improve, and a few that were able to place well in their races, but for the most part it was a rough day for us and one that we will need to learn from. The temps were warmer than what we have been dealing with lately, it was a new course with a challenging hill that they had to do multiple times, and it was our first race in the afternoon on the season, but we cannot use those as reasons for us not doing as well as we could. What is nice is that this is still early in the season and we have time to look at what we can do differently and be able to help the runners that may have struggled a lot to find a solution and to move past this race. Rough races happen and we cannot dwell on them and only think about the negatives.
We will reset and put our focus on the next race, which is next Friday, September 17, at the Lakeville Apple Jack Invite. This will be the first meet that we will be at where there will be more than 5 teams in two years, so for a lot of our runners this will be a new experience having some many other teams and runners going at the same time. Currently, there will be 23 schools attending, so crowding may be an issue in some of the races! Once we get closer to Friday I will put more info out.
Thanks for all of the spectators that did come out yesterday to support our runners.
Denny
