Team Rules

The following rules were put together by the coaches and several of the current runners of the 2022 Coon Rapids Cross Country Running team.  We will discuss with the athletes but feel it is important for all to be aware of what we are expecting for the season.
Thanks
Denny

Team Rules

You are expected to abide by the Coon Rapids High School athletic code.

If you require physiotherapy, medical attention, or general training, you must follow the certified trainer’s program to the letter.

You are expected to set performance goals and plan your steps to success.  To succeed in competition and in Coon Rapids Cross Country, you must take care of both your body and mind.  You must attempt to do your best every day: That’s all it takes, in athletics and life.  Enjoy the satisfaction of honest effort and being part of our team.  If you have reservations about your commitment, please talk to a coach.

Discuss with a coach and schedule a time to talk about your goals and your current place in your training.

Practice Rules

Team practices begin at 3:15 (3:25 for Middle School runners) sharp in the location designated. If you cannot attend a practice, you must see the coach beforehand.  You may not send someone with a message for the coach.

You will participate in all the training unless you have been provided a special program by the coach or trainer.

If you are ill or injured, see the coach at the beginning of training.  Otherwise 100 percent effort is expected.

Mentally prepare for each practice by reviewing your practice goals so you can gain from each experience.

Always come to practice in acceptable gear.

When your teammates are participating in fatiguing training, your encouragement is valuable and expected.  You’ll in turn appreciate their support during your most challenging moments.

Vince Lombardi said, “Fatigue makes cowards of us all.”  And he is right, so be as brave as you can for as long as you can, and you’ll be amazed at how long, how far, and how fast you can go.

Competition Rules

We wear only Coon Rapids Warm-Ups and gear throughout our competitive experience.  We run for the Coon Rapids Cardinals.  We wear Coon Rapids Cardinal apparel.  Other apparel is unacceptable.

Compete and behave with pride and class from the first moment we arrive until we depart, regardless of outcomes.

Regardless of the weather conditions, cheer on everyone and/or wait for your teammates to finish after their races for support.
