Thursday's Results

Our individual results are now posted on the right side of the blog.  Once we have a few more meets in us I'll also update the Season Bests.

On an overall, there were many solid performances and PR's (personal records).  We were missing a couple of our top boys and one of our top girls had to stop, but we are a young team and a lot of the runners are still trying to find who they are and how they need to race.  But, they all held their own and raced all the way through the line, and that is big thing we are looking for at the beginning of the season.  Now that we have a 5K race completed, we can start to look at what we need to work on the most and if there are any changes we have to make.

Next meet will be on Thursday, Sep. 6 at Gail Woods Farm near Minnetrista.  This will be a bigger meet, with some of the better teams in the metro and state participating on a course that is more challenging.  Right now, temps look like they will be better than they were when we raced there last year, so we are hoping it can give us a better picture of how we are progressing.

If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

District 11 (ABC) Results

The overall meet results for today's District 11 (ABC) Meet at Anoka can be found at Gopher State Events and can be accessed by clicking on the link on the top of the blog page.  Once on their page, click on Results, School Events and then Cross Country.  Once through that, select the ABC Early Bird meet.  To change between the Boys and the Girls results, you will need to select the Race on the right side.
I'll have our individual results as well as information on the meet itself later today when I am able to enter all of the results.
Thanks

Pasta Party Schedule

I have put the Pasta Party Schedule on the blog under Schedule. Please look on the right side of the blog and if you would have any interest, please let me know and I will put you on the list.  If you have questions on how to put one together, also let me know and I can direct you to a parent that has had one in the past.  Lastly, if you would like to have one, but would like to host it at the high school in the cafeteria, which is an option, let me know the date you'd be interested in and I will see if I can set it up with the school.

Running Camp Info

Below is some more detailed information about camp.  If you are still wanting to come with, please let me know.  Also, if there are any parents that would still like to come with us as well, we would love to have you with.  However, we currently will still need another 2-3 drivers to help get the kids there, depending on the size of the vehicle.  If you would like to help, please let me know as well.
Thanks!

Running Camp Information Aug. 24-26

Running camp is a week away and we felt we should inform everyone that is going some of the items to look for and bring for the three days of running.
We will be heading to William O’Brien State Park near Marine on St. Croix, on Friday, August 24 around 11:00am and it will be a cost of $10.
The drive will be around 1 hour, depending on traffic.  Cell phone coverage should be decent out there.
Some items that should be brought with include:
-         A towel, bathroom items
-         Sleeping Bag/Pillow
-         Tent (We will share tents, this will need to be set up soon so we know who is to bring one)
-         Bug Spray, Sun Screen
-         Stuff for swimming
-         A pair of warm up pants or jeans for at night
-         A sweatshirt or jacket
-         Clothes to run in, including shoes.
-         For food, dinner will be covered.
-         The runners should bring items for breakfast, lunch and snacking as well as beverages (to cut down on garbage, think of bringing a water bottle and mix packets, not cases of bottles) for all meals.
-         Other items that can be taken with include games, music, and a water bottle or two.
-         Please remind your athlete that we are only going for 2 nights, 3 days, so a ton of stuff is not needed, think about sharing coolers with other runners.
We will be leaving camp around 12:00 on Sunday the 26th and should be arriving back at the high school around 1:00.

Any questions, let me know  Thanks, Denny

Sign up and First Week of Practice

We are just a few days away from the start of the 2018 season!  If you have not already, PLEASE sign up!  If you are not signed up by the time practice starts on Monday, you are NOT allowed to practice until you get signed up!  It is a safety issue, and if someone is to come run at practice and they are not signed up and something happens to them, it becomes a much bigger issue.  So please get signed up.  It can be done online through the lock and key icon on the district or school web pages.  It cannot be through a students lock and key though, only the parents.  If need be, you can still sign up the paper way, just print off the paper work on the web page or pick them up at the Activities Office at the High School.
Next, here is the schedule for practices for the first week.  We will be doing 2 practices on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, but will not on Tuesday due to the Primary's.  We know that it is still summer, but we are wanting to get things done and it is easier to do if we break up the practices.
Any questions, let me know:

Monday AM: 8:00 at CR Dam Visitor Center; PM: Girls at 6:00, Boys at 7:00 at CRHS
Tuesday AM: 8:00 at Bunker Golf Course Parking Lot 1
Wednesday AM: Boys at 8:00, Girls at 9:00 at CR Dam Visitor Center; PM: Girls at 6:00, Boys at 7:00 at CRHS
Thursday AM: Boys at 8:00, Girls at 9:00 at CR Dam Visitor Center; PM: Girls at 6:00, Boys at 7:00 at CRHS
Friday AM: 8:00 at CR Dam Visitor Center

Thanks
Denny

Preseason All Sports Meeting

If you have not been given notification from the school yet, tomorrow, Wednesday, evening there will be an all sports meeting at 6:00pm in the auditorium. (I originally posted this as 7:00, but was wrong on the time.). We have a new Activities Director this year, so there may be some new things discussed.  If you do attend, I will be there after that meeting to answer any questions that you may have.  This will not be our parent meeting, that will happen on Thursday, August 23rd at our team time trial.
Thanks and make sure you are getting signed up!

August

Well, once again summer is flying by, and it is now August 1st, which means we are a week and a half away from the start of the season and we are also at that point of the summer that we as coaches cannot have any contact with the runners until the season starts. The Captains will still be holding practices and will notify everyone what will be happening.
The season will start on Monday, August 13 at 8:00am at the CR Dam. You are able to start registering through the Activities page on the high schools webpage.
There will be more info I will post here as we get closer.
Any questions, let me know.
Thanks
Denny
