Weeks Ahead Schedule

Here is the schedule for the rest of the summer as far as our team training goes. Remember that there are two options. Also, the more you can run, the better off you will be when the season gets going in mid-August.
AM - 9:30; PM 7:00
Locations will be the same for the morning and evening options. Parents and alumni are always welcome to be a part of the workouts as well.
Mondays - CR Dam
Tuesdays - CRHS
Wednesdays - CRHS
Thursdays - Bunker Golf Course Parking Lot 1
Fridays - CRHS

Lastly, I am going to be on vacation for most of the rest of June, leaving on Tuesday afternoon.  I will check my email and messages occasionally, but please note that I probably won't be able to help much.

Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Bunker Hills Skijor Trails, Coon RapidsMN

8:00-9:15am: Participant Check-In and Registration

9:30 am: 5K Family Run

Fees:
* The event fee on Race Day is a $10 donation for all current and former runners of Coon Rapids Cross Country and their families.  We are not opening this up to the public.  This is a fundraiser for our programs.

Location/Course – Bunker Skijor Trails are located at the Bunker Dog Park near the Archery Facility on the west end of Bunker Hills Regional Park off of Hanson Blvd near Andover, 13285 Hanson Blvd, Coon Rapids.  The course is a 2.5K loop on a natural surface that is mainly grass with some areas of sand.

Other Information –Participants of all ages welcome. You can run, walk, talk, and do as much or as little as you would like.  This is more about bringing back those that have been a part of our programs over the years and hope to build a strong community of runners for the support of the Coon Rapids High School Cross Country Running program, as well as getting the current members of the team ready for the upcoming season.

Firecracker 5/10K Volunteers Needed

On Wednesday, July 4th, is the the Coon Rapids Firecracker 5K/10K and we, the Cross Country Team, have been asked to work two of the water stops. We are needing a total of 4-8 volunteers to cover the two stops. If you are interested in helping, please let me or Coach Lauren know at practice or reply to this post. I will send out all of the final details when we get closer. We would like to have as many of our runners run in this race to support the City of Coon Rapids as well as show the community the work that the runners have put in. We know that it is a holiday and people will be out of town, but if you are around, we would love to have you apart of the event one way or the other. If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

Summer Evening Practices

We talked with the runners today, 33 of them, which was probably a record for me for the first day of summer training, and we have decided to add the evening option for those that cannot make the morning training time period.  We will offer a 7:00pm option that will be held at the same location as the morning training (not tonight though).

With it being in the evening, if there are any parents, alumni, or other family members that want to join, you are more than welcome to, the more the merrier.  If the morning works better, parents, alumni and other family members can come to that option as well.  One of my biggest goals for the summer training is to make it inviting to all and a promotion to running.  We have had parents join in the past and alumni have always come back, so please feel free to join!

Any questions, let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Summer Training Begins

With the closing of another school year, begins the summer and the beginning of getting ready for the upcoming seasons.  Tomorrow, Monday, June 11th is the beginning of our summer training.  We will be starting at 9:30am and will meet at the flag pole in front of the high school.  We will discuss with those at practice tomorrow, as well as from those we hear from, about having an evening option as well for those that are unable to make the morning option.  Here is our schedule for locations as we go through the summer.  Remember, these are optional, but are a great way to get going before the season starts as well as meet the new additions to the team.
If you have any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

Monday: CR Dam (except for June 11th)
Tuesday: CRHS
Wednesday: CRHS
Thursday: Bunker Golf Course, Parking Lot 1
Friday: CRHS
We will have the captains put together some Saturday runs as well, with locations to be determined, which are also optional

Final Invitation List for CO Trip

Below is the final list of those invited for our first attempt at a summer training trip to help the athletes and the program become stronger runners.  The trip is from Saturday, July 21st to Friday, July 27th.

The overall cost is going to be $175 a person.  This will pay for lodging, transportation and gas, and food (which we will purchase when we get there).  We are over estimating at this time so we have extra money in case we need it.  If we get back and still have money, we will divide it up and give back to everyone.  We are going to rent two 15 passenger vans, which will help with not having to put miles on individuals vehicles as well as reduce the number of vehicles we bring. We will also need a couple of more adults/parents to accompany us as well, to help with the driving.  Coach Lauren and myself will be going and we have currently two other male and two other female parents planning to go, but we will still accept others that would like to attend.

We have also included our standards for the 2018-2019 school year for Cross Country and Track.  The reason we are sending these out now is for those that would like to go on the trip next year, they know what they have to aim for, thus they can start prepping themselves over the summer and working towards those goals.

We will be sending out more information when we get closer to the trip, but one thing we will be looking for is a couple of bigger Thule's to put on top of the vans to help with luggage.  If you have one and would allow us to use for this trip, please let me know.

If you know you will not be able to go and you have been invited, please let me know so we can take you off the list.  If there are any parents, and even a few alumni, that have interest in attending, please let me know, and we will see what we can.

If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny
