State Results

Congratulations to Lachlan for competing today at the State Meet and running his 2nd fastest time!! In a very deep field of runners and with all but 3 boys running under 18:00, Lachlan ran a controlled race and moved up throughout, despite calf/knee issues and pain that he had been working through this past week. He was proud of what he was able to accomplish and happy to get the experience of running at State.

Thanks to all of those that were able to come watch and support Lachlan!

SPECTATOR PARKING & SHUTTLE SERVICE: Spectator parking is free of charge and will be available on race day at the MN State Fair Lot “Block 55” at 1680 Como Avenue, across the street from the MN State Fair Coliseum.

• Shuttle service to and from the golf course and the parking lot will be provided from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on race day. The shuttle pickup and drop off points will be posted with large “Shuttle Stop” signs.

Section 7AAA Results

Congratulations to Lachlan Demmer as he qualified for the Minnesota State Cross Country Meet at today's Section 7AAA Meet!!  Lachlan was able to drop 40 seconds off his 5K time to take 8th place overall and grab the 3rd Individual qualifying spot and moved onto the CRCC Sub 17/All Time Best list at #34!!  Ruby nearly also qualified for State, finishing in 17th place to pace our Girls.

On a near picture perfect distance running day, a soft course with some wet spots didn't stop our Cardinals as 27 of the 31 who raced today ran either Season Bests or All-Time Personal Bests!  Of course we can always wish we could have had more qualify for State or finish higher as a team, but we are very happy and we cannot find fault in the fact that we put together our best meet as a team on the season in the last meet of the season!

Thanks to all of those that came out to cheer and support our runners!!! Information on next Saturday's State Meet, Nov 4th at the U of M Les Bolstad Golf Course, will come out early next week!

Thanks,
Denny

Section 7AAA Meet Thursday

Here are a couple of items for the Section Meets on Thursday, Oct 26 for the Varsity and JV at Anoka High School.  A list of who will be running Varsity is also below.  Those not listed will be running in the JV races.

This will be the last meet of the season for most of the team, but also the opportunity to qualify for the State Meet at the U of M Golf Course (same location as the Griak Invite) on Saturday, Nov. 4th.  Please note that the Varsity will be in the early afternoon and that the JV runners will be late in the afternoon.  Bus time for both will be 12:45.  However, if there is a JV runner that needs to stay at school for their classwork, please let me know, and they can meet us at the meet after school.

Those that qualify for the State Meet will be the 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as the 6 fastest runners that are not on those two teams.  The weather is looking like temp wise will be perfect for fast times, but it is hard to say at this time if there will be any rain or not.

Also, please remember that there are no dogs allowed.  We don't want a dog getting lose during the race and interfering with a runner.

Girls
Ruby, Lily, Emmy, Emily, Hannah, Ella, Kaylee

Varsity times:
Bus Leaves at 12:45

NWSC Meet Results

Congratulations to Ruby and Lachlan for both earning All Conference today at the Northwest Suburban Conference Meet!! Ruby was able to finish in 12th place in the Girls race and Lachlan finished in 17th in the Boys race.

The Boy's team finished in 11th out of 14 teams with Kjell 45th and Owen 50th to also help the Boy's.  The Girl's also finished in 11th place with Lily in 48th also helping the team.

On the JV side, two middle schoolers lead the Boy's and the Girls teams, with both finishing in 33rd place.  Tate helped lead the Boys JV to a 10th place finish with Faith leading the Girls JV to a 9th place finish.

Today was not quite the race we would have hoped for, but it was possibly the best overall team race that we have had this year, with 20 of the 33 runners having a Season or Personal Bests!  It's a tough course and it is a positive step as we head towards the end of the season and we look to have our best race at the Section Meet.

Our Individual Results with a link to the Overall Results are now posted on the blog.

Thanks to all that were able to come out and watch and cheer on the teams!!

Reminders

A couple of reminders as we get the week going.  Besides the Northwest Suburban Conference Meet on Wednesday (please read prior post), two other items are happening this week.

Thursday is the Homecoming Football Game and the Boys will be running the game ball in from Blaine High School.  As of right now the bus to Blaine will be leaving at 5:45.  The Girls will still have practice at our regular time, but the Boys do not have to show up for that practice, just the bus.

Also, Friday is our scheduled Picture Day.  Once I get the ordering information I will get it sent out to everyone.  However, looking at the predicted weather, we are setting up a back up day for next week in case it is raining.  IF there is a change, I will let everyone know as well.

Thanks and we will see you all on Wednesday!

HOKA ONE ONE/Cardinal Cup Time Trial

Thanks to everyone that came out and supported the 2 Mile Time Trial that we had under the lights tonight on the track!  It was at least a 40 degree temp change from Monday, and the times seemed to drop that much as well!! 17 of the runners that ran tonight ran faster than they have before for the HOKA ONE ONE/Cardinal Cup 2 mile and everyone who ran tonight and in the Time Trial at the beginning of the season were significantly faster!! The energy level was high among the runners, and despite being cold due to the dramatic temp changes and the high winds, they went out and put forth great efforts and were very supportive of their teammates!  It was a positive step forward, big improvements from a year ago, and we are hoping to build off of this as we head to the Conference Meet next Wednesday!

The results are posted on the right side of the blog, and Congrats to the Swifties for winning the Girls race and Team White for winning the Boys race!!

Thanks,
Denny

Week of October 2nd

Here are a few quick things for the week ahead for everyone to prepare for:

With the weather being on the warm side again on Monday, we will be paying attention to what the temps are going to be at practice time and make any adjustments we feel are necessary to help keep everyone heatlthy.

Thursday evening is the HOKA ONE ONE/Cardinal Cup 2 mile on the track.  We are wanting the runners at the track at 6:00pm and we will run the first at 7:00 and the second at 7:30 (we will have the runners decide on Wednesday if the Boys or Girls will be first).  Something new that we would like to try this year is to have a "Future Cardinal" 1 or 2 lap run in between the two races.  Thanks to Wade for bringing this idea up.  So, please bring any younger siblings as well as let others you may know to come as well to come participate!

Due to the fact that the Conference Meet the following week is on a Wednesday, we are going to have a Saturday morning practice to help prepare for that meet.  We will be on the track at 8:00am.

Last item, our team pictures are going to be on Friday, Oct 13 at the CR Dam.  I am working on having a bus bring the runners over.

Thanks,
Denny

Osseo Results

Our Individual Results as well as a link to the Overall Results are now posted on the right side of the blog.

As we continue to try and get healthy from the illnesses that are going through the team, the runners went out and put together a solid day of racing.  Top overall finishers in their respective races in the 26 team meet are Tate B (7th) and Truman S (13th) in the Boys Middle School race; Faith K (12th) in the Girls Middle School race; Ruby D 21st in the Girls Varsity and Kaylee B 29th in the Girls JV races; Lachlan D 23rd in the Boys Varsity and Tythe K 40th in the Boys JV races.  Team finishes for the teams were 10th out of  10 teams for the JV Boys, 13th out of 22 teams for the Boys Varsity and 14th out of 18 teams for the Girls Varsity.

There were a lot of positive times and results that show the growth of the runners, but there are a few that are fighting through some illnesses that are holding them back and it is something that we are hoping to get them healthy soon so they are able to get back to where they can be for the last few races of the season.

It was also awesome to see some alumni, including 5 from the 1981 Boys team!! They got the chance to catch up and it was fun to hear some of their stories from when they were running. One thing that stuck out was one of them mentioned that they remembered the practices and the time together with the team more than the races.  It is something to remember for all of us.  It's not always how the race goes, but the work that was put into it and the time spent with ones teammates!

Thanks to all of those that came to watch and support the runners tonight!

Griak and Mustang Results

All of the results from the last two days are now posted on the right side of the blog.

Another positive weekend with lots of tough competition and new challenges for the season as the team continues to take steps towards their end of season goals.

On the Griak side of things Ruby was the highest placing individual for the Cardinals as she finished a solid 31st place to lead the Girls team to a 31st team place. Lachlan led the boys to a 22nd team place finish with a just as solid 40th place individually.  This was a big transition year for the team with a lot of individuals running Griak for the first, and they held their own and we moved up as a team for both the Boys and the Girls.  Times, overall for us were better, but we know that they are not where are wanting them to be, and we will keep putting in our time to reach the teams goals.

With the Mustang, there were over 1800 individuals registered for all of the different races, so our runners that ran got the chance to see a lot of different runners from different teams on a fast course, and our times were showing it, with everyone that ran, running season or all time personal best times for their respective race distances! Tate led the way for everyone with a 15th place finish in the Boys Middle School race.  We only had one team have enough runners to qualify for team points, the JV Boys in the Green race, as they finished 17th out of the 19 teams that scored.  But, knowing that all 5 ran their best times on the season and two of them ran all time personal bests, it was a great step forward.

Thanks to all of those that came out and watched the races the last two days and for those that have taken pictures as well.  If there are any links to pictures that anyone wants me to post, please let me know.  Please do check out the photos on the right side of the blog though as well.

Thanks,
Denny

Twin Cities Marathon Water Stop Opportunity

We have been given the opportunity to work at one of the water stops for the Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, Oct 1.  This will end up being a fundraiser for us, but we need to have at least 20 people to make it happen.  What I am asking is that if you, your runner or other family members would be willing to help that you please fill out the form in the link below.  I would like to know by Wednesday morning so I can confirm with the TC Marathon Volunteer Lead that we can do the water stop as soon as possible.  Once I have at least 20 people, I will then send out the information on how to sign up as a volunteer.  We will also get $30 a person that is able to work, which will then go towards our team.
Thanks in advance!

Osceola Invite Results

Congratulations to Ruby D for winning her first Varsity race as she came from behind and was able to out sprint another runner to take the win!! She also helped our Girls team to a 5th place finish out of the 14 teams that scored today on the challenging Osceola course.  Lachlan D earned another top 10 performance with a solid 8th place to help lead our Boys team to a 2nd place team finish out of the 15 teams that scored.  Our times as well as a link to the Overall Results are posted on the right side of the blog.

This was one of the most challenging courses that our runners have raced on, and despite being a little apprehensive of what to expect, the Cardinal Runners put forth a solid effort and had their best races as a team for the beginning of the season.  There were a lot of positives and a lot of excitement for their races, and a lot we can learn from the day.

Thanks to all of those that were able to come and support the runners!  It was a great weather day and turned into a great day of racing.

Cambridge Invite Results

The Individual Results as well as a link to the Overall results from yesterday's meet in Cambridge are now posted on the right side of the blog.

A solid afternoon on a course that has always been a little slower, but it was an opportunity for our team to work on being a little more patient at the beginning as well as challenging themselves on the last 2 miles.

The Middle School runners started the day off in a bang, with Tate just missing the win to finish in 2nd by a second and Truman coming in 3rd in the Boys race.  Faith also finished in 2nd on the girls side.

The Varsity runners showed the most patience on the day and then really fought hard to move up.  On the Girls side, Ruby was able to pass a number of girls as she was able to gain 3rd place overall.  With the Boys, they went from being dead last to 3 boys in the top 10, led by Lachlan in 4th, Kjell in 7th and Owen in 9th and despite finishing in 3rd, still had a chance to win the team title with a mile to go.

On the JV side, both teams showed a lot of improvements from the first meet of the year with the JV Girls winning with all 6 girls in the top 10 led by Emily in 4th, Emmy in 5th, Kaylee in 6th and Casey in 7th.  Tythe gained a 10th place finish on the Boys side to lead an improved group.

Next up is the Osecola Invite next Saturday, Sep 16.  Details will be posted later this week.

Lastly, Monday is the deadline to purchase the team shirts, whether you are a runner, parent or fan!  Check out the previous post for a link.

Thanks

Second Run on Team Shirts

Below is a link to Special Team T-shirts for this years Cross Country Running Teams in which we will be honoring two of the great Cross Country teams in School/Program History, the Girls 1979 team that was the first to go to State, and the Boys 1981 team, which was probably the fastest and deepest team in school history.  The shirts are replicas of the uniforms that both of these teams wore and we will be wearing them for our uniform tops at the Osseo Invite on Sep 28th at Elm Creek.

This is the second run of these shirts and the deadline is September 11th.

Even though we are wanting these to be for the current members of the team, we are also wanting our families, alumni, and fans to purchase these as well.  So, help us support our great history as well as the student/athletes of our school that are currently on the Cross Country Running Team.
Thanks,
Denny
