Section Results

Our individual results are posted to the right and you can find meet results at the Mtec Results link above.  We are in Section 5AA.
A positive way to end the season.  We had another 14 Personal Records tonight with 2 more running season bests, including 5 of the 7 Varsity runners and 1 running a season PR.  It is a good way to end a season and an added bonus as the team looks to what is possible next season.
But, the team did move up to 8th place from the 9th at the Conference Meet 2 weeks ago, and that is a big step for the team considering 2 teams that beat us at the meet, we were able to beat this week.
Information about the banquet will be posted tomorrow, but the date for the banquet is Thursday, Nov. 6 at the high school cafeteria.
Also, tomorrow there will be a survey that the runners will need to take after school and then team voting and individual meetings to end the season.  If the boys are wanting, they will be able to continue working out, but we will not have any scheduled workouts.
Thank you for all of the support not only tonight but throughout the season.  We think we have something that we can build on and will do what we can to improve.Any questions on anything, please let me know,
Thanks

Sections

This is the week of the Section Meet.  The meet will be on Thursday at Anoka High School.  The Girls will be running first and our Varsity Boys will be running at 4:00 with the JV Boys following at 4:30.  Parking will not be an issue, but they are saying that dogs will not be allowed, so if you look to bring your dog along, please do not.  Reasoning is, is that they don't want a dog getting lose and possibly interfering with one of the races.  There will be a company at the meet selling shirts and there will also be concessions available

How qualifying works for the State Meet, is the top two teams in the Varsity race, and then the next top 8 individuals who are not apart of those two teams.  The State Meet will be on Saturday, Nov. 1 at St Olaf College in Northfield.
For those who do not qualify for the State Meet, we will have practice on Friday, to do a survey the school district would like all athletes to take, and do our team voting, and exit meeting with each runner, as well as one final team workout.  For those that do qualify, practice will still be as scheduled up to the day of the State Meet.
The end of season banquet will be on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6:30pm at the High School Cafeteria.  This will be a pot luck event, with more information to be sent home and posted at the end of the week.
If you have any questions about any of this, please let me know,
Thanks

Conference Meet

Team results don't always show how the individuals and team do.  Sometimes, others just have better days or have more than what you have.  That is what I see happened tonight in the NWSC Meet as the team finished in 9th out of 14 teams, but this was by far our best meet on the season and shows the amount of growth we have done so far this year.  We still have a lot that we would like to accomplish, but to perform as well as we did on a more challenging course in a more high intensity meet, is something that we hope we can build off of.  There were many PR's tonight and the energy level is at a positive high right now, with the team looking forward to the Section Meet in two weeks.  Another positive for us this year is that we got two All-Conference performers in Paul Breitbach and Nathan Mueggenberg!
Our individual results are posted in the Results section to the right and meet results can be found on Raceberryjam.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

NWSC Meet

This weeks meet is the NWSC Conference Meet and is at the Elk River Country Club.  This is the meet to determine who is the Conference Champion as well as which individuals will be All-Conference.  This year, 3 new teams have been added to the Conference, so the number of All-Conference honors is now at 28 and Honorable Mention will be from 29-42.  We will be running 10 individuals in the Varsity race, and all of the rest of our runners will be running JV.  There is a Middle School race as well, but our two will be in the JV race.  There are no awards for the JV race though.
Directions and times of the races are below.  One thing to note, parking is very minimal and with 14 schools it may not be an easy task to park.  So, please plan accordingly and give yourself more than enough time to get to the start line to watch the races.  It is possible you will need to park in a nearby neighborhood and walk quite a distance to get to the course and crossing over to the golf course will be a bit of a risk with the amount of traffic on that road and that there are no cross walks.  This is an issue that we as coaches discussed last year, but most felt it was not that much of a problem.  But, if you do find any issues with this, please let me know so I can forward your concerns onto the rest of the Conference.
If there is anything else, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Blaine Invite Results

Results for last nights Blaine Invite can be found on Raceberryjam.  Our individual results can be found under our Results page.
Positive night of running, despite the rain.  The Varsity finished 1st in the White division and would have been 8th in the Blue division, thus 8th out of 31 teams, which is big step forward for this group of runners.  Looking back at results from last year at this race, which was similar temps and not as wet, many have moved way up and are making the team more competitive, which is a huge positive with the number of runners we lost from last year!
6 of the 7 varsity runners got into the medals yesterday, with one missing by 1 second.  This was the first time that many of these runners had to be front runners in a 5K race, and they held their own.  It is possible that they would have run faster if they were in the faster division, but this is a step we needed to take and to prove to the boys that they can run well from the front.
Many in the JV race also showed improvements.  9 of the 15 racers for the Cardinals ran personal bests, thus making the team stronger as we get closer to the end of the season.  Tough conditions on a soft course, and they are still showing improvements!
And not to forget the youngest members of the team, the Middle Schoolers are also showing improvements, thus making the future of the team a bit brighter.  They did not combine the two that run for us with Coon Rapids MS team, but had they, they would have finished tied for 6th as a team.  It's a program that we hope to keep growing and one that is starting to perform well.
Any questions on anything, please let me know,
Thanks
