JV Section Results

Our Individual and the Overall Results from tonight's JV Section races are now posted on the right side of the blog.

Colder temps and a little rain didn't slow down our JV runners tonight as they were able to finish off the season for the team on a very positive note!  22 of 23 Boys and 6 of 7 Girls ran either All Time Personal Bests or a Seasonal Best, and a lot of those were not by small amounts! It's a great way to cap off the season and to have a positive moving forward.  The Boys finished in 11th of 13 and the Girls were 7th of  11 teams, but it is hard to put a negative on the amount of improvements everyone got today when you look at the team placings.  The process is working and the steps that we needed to take this year were accomplished, and they will be things that we can and need to build off of if we want to continue to move up.

Thank you to everyone that was able to come out and support the JV runners, including some of our alumni! There was a great energy tonight and it is a fun way to end the season!!

One last thing, we will meet tomorrow after the middle school runners get out of school around 3:05, downstairs by the ski room and equipment room to do a survey and team voting.  After that is complete, if any of the runners want to stick around to do some more fun things to bring an end to everything, they are able to.

Thanks,
Denny

Varsity Section Results

Congrats to all of the Varsity runners today on ending their seasons with solid races.  We had our best overall race of the season, and when 5 Boys and 4 Girls run all-time bests of the 14 that ran (plus one season best), it is an easy thing to say that they did the best that they could.  We are young and still working on some things, but the improvements helped the teams move forward.  The Girls team tied for 7th but were able to beat Cambridge-Isanti on a tie breaker (6th runners for both teams), which is a big step considering they were supposed to be 8th by a wide margin.  The Boys team finished in 8th out of 8, but were closer to the teams ahead of them then they had been all season.  We know, looking at the other teams, that we have a lot of work to do to move up, but with the improvements they have had this season and how young and inexperienced we were going into this season, things are looking more positive and if we keep putting our time in we could move up sooner than later.

Check out our individual and the Overall results on the right side of the blog.  I will update Season Bests after the JV run tomorrow evening.  As for the JV, the bus will leave around 3:15 tomorrow.  The Girls will race at 4:45 and the Boys at 5:15.  With all of the PR's today, it should be fun to see how much everyone can improve tomorrow, plus give the JV runners the confidence to know that if the Varsity team can improve that much, so can they!!

Thanks for all of your support and hope to see you all out tomorrow!!

Sections

Here are a couple of last minute items for the Section Meets on Wednesday for the Varsity and Thursday for JV.  This will be the last meet for most of the team, but also the opportunity to qualify for the State Meet at St. Olaf on Saturday, Nov. 6th.

Those that qualify for the State Meet will be the 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as the 8 fastest runners that are not on those two teams.  The weather is looking like temp wise will be perfect for fast times, hard to say if it will stay dry or not though, looking more wet than anything.

Both the Boys and the Girls will be wearing Black uniforms tomorrow.

Also, please remember that there are no dogs allowed.  We don't want a dog getting lose during the race and interfering with a runner.

Race Times:
Varsity (Wednesday)
Girls - 3:15
Boys - 3:55

JV (Thursday)
Girls - 4:45
Boys - 5:15

Thanks,
Denny

Wednesday Practice Cancelled

Due to the weather, we will be cancelling today's practice.  With temps being colder and so much rain, it is not worth risking health to get an easy workout in.

As of right now, though, the football game and recognition is still happening, so please have the Boy's meet by the two sheds at 6:40.

Lastly, with Thursday's practice, the bus is leaving at 9:00am and for those on the team that have spikes, please bring them for the workout.

Thanks
Denny

ABC 3K Results

Our Individual results from today's ABC 3K at Greenhaven are now posted on the right side of the blog.  There will not be any Overall results for this, since it is something that the 3 schools do to have some fun and work on things.  We as a team were focusing mostly on our finishes, so we had the runners start and run the first mile slower than what they usually would and then focus on getting up to pace and finishing strong, which they were able to do.  Most of our average paces in the second half of the race were faster and both Girls and Boys moved up an passed a lot of other runners.

Thanks for those that came out today.  A reminder that practice on Wednesday is going to be at the regular time and then Thursday we will be leaving school on a bus at 9:00 and running the JK5K at 10:00.

Denny

Wednesday Football Game

At tomorrow nights (Wednesday) football game, the Boy's team will be recognized after the National Anthem and will run the game ball onto the field to honor them for the run that they did for Homecoming and for not getting the chance to run out onto the field that game.
Thanks
Denny

Week of Oct 18

Here are some basics for the week ahead, Oct 18-22:
For Tuesday's ABC 3K at Greenhaven Golf Course in Anoka, the Girls will run at 4:00 and the Boys will run at 4:25.  We have always run this in more of specific workout type fashion and we will have the runners set up with a plan before they race.  We currently do not have a bus, so if everyone can drive, that will be best.

Wednesday we will still practice at our regular time of 3:15

Thursday is the JK5K, which is a workout, not a race.  We have it as a continuous 5K workout that if they do correctly, could still get a PR, and if they do, we will credit them with that.  However, much like Tuesday, we want them to run a specific way to get the most out of the workout.  We do have a bus and it is scheduled to leave at 9:00am, with us starting the JK5K at 10:00.  If anyone wants to come out, they rae more than welcome to, but we are not wanting the runners using their uniforms.  We should be back to the high school around 11:00.

Friday we will have a scheduled practice at 10:00am for those that can make it.  It will not be a long practice though.

Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Homecoming Football Run

Here is the route for tomorrow's Homecoming Football Run that the Boys will be running: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UoMCWvdB55hh0K7yAZ3d6Ty5JClkdtii/view?usp=sharing

This is a tradition that we started about 15 years ago, and is a way for the CC Runners to have their part of Homecoming.  What it is is that we will run the game ball for the football game from the opposing school.  All members of the team help out with it.  When it is a shorter distance (say 5-6 miles) the whole team runs together.  But, when it is a longer distance we do it in a relay fashion, with the team divided into groups and having a set course to run.  The game ball is then passed on between the groups as the ball is made its way to mid-field before the game starts.  The whole team will run the last 1/2 mile together and out onto the field.

How it will work this year is that all of the Boys will be excused from school at 12:10 (lunches will need to be brought with if missing lunch) and our bus will leave at 12:30 to bring us to Cambridge.  Then, the Boys will be put into groups of 3 or 4 and will have an assigned segment of 4-5 miles that they will run.  The bus will bring the runners to each stop on the route and drop off/pick up the groups.  I will be biking the whole course with the runners to help with following the correct route as well as traffic control.  We will also have a few reflector vests and blinking lights, but if others have their own they should bring those as well.

We are working on getting a coach bus so they will have a better chance of Wifi, but we would like for them to bring their school work so they can be doing homework when they are not running.

As for the Girls, they will be having practice at the regular time (It will be something more fun) and we have also always invited the Senior Girls to join us as they enter the field (their choice if they go out).

I think this covers it all, but if there are any questions, please let me know,

Thanks,

Denny

NWSC Results

Our Individual Results with a link to the Overall Results is now posted on the right side of the blog for today's Northwest Suburban Conference Meet.

Congratulations to Kjell Norquist for earning All-Conference Honors today in the Boys Varsity race finishing in 26th place with Aaron Casey picking up Honorable Mention placing in 35th.  Also, Congratulations to Ruby Demmer for earning Honorable Mention in the Girls Varsity race with a 35th place finish!

It was an overall good day for the runners.  It still was not a perfect race for us for this season, but there were still much improvement and steps taken that can help us as we move forward over the next two weeks.  We ended up with 9 Girls and 13 Boys that also ran Personal or Season Bests today, which is solid considering that it was really windy and there were some hills to help make the course more challenging.  We know we can get better and we will see what we can do to bring it all together when we hit the Section Meets.

Thanks to all of the parents and fans that fought through the varying weather and for all of the support!!  Next up is the ABC 3K on Tuesday at Greenhaven Golf Course.

Thanks
Denny

Conference Transportation

As of Tuesday evening, we still do not have a bus for tomorrow's, Wednesday's, Conference Meet.  Also, we currently only have 13 runners marked for their transportation.  We need to have everyone please fill out this spread sheet so we know if everyone has a ride or not and if they don't we can help line them up with a ride.  This is important!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1whOMK28-VtyyL8kLHAzRR_luYrt9EgNcvtG95AFypZs/edit?usp=sharing
If we are able to get a bus I will let everyone know as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Denny

NWSC Meet Info

Below is the information and roster for Wednesday's Northwest Suburban Conference Meet in Elk River.  We were notified on Friday that we currently do not have a bus for Wednesday, so I have attached a Google Spreadsheet for everyone to let us know about rides.  I am hoping that something we be figured before Wednesday and I will let everyone know on Tuesday once it is figured.

Two other items of note, Friday is the Football Run for Homecoming, with the Boys running the game ball for the football game from the opposing school.  This year they will be running from Cambridge in a relay.  I am finalizing groups and the route for everyone and will have more info coming out on Thursday.

Lastly, this years end of season banquet will be on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6:00pm in the CRHS Cafeteria.  I will send out more information when we get closer, but wanted to let all be aware to put on your schedules.

Thanks
Denny

Cardinal Cup Results

The result from tonight's Cardinal Cup are now posted on the right side of the blog.  Thanks to all that showed up to watch the runners put on a solid performance and have everyone improved over times set at the beginning of the season, as well as those that ran this last year!  It wasn't as cool as it could have been, so it is possible times could have been better yet, but they all put in solid efforts and have shown great improvements this past couple of weeks.  We know we have to keep taking steps forward to reach as high as we can, but right now it seems like there could still be many steps with how hard everyone has been working!

On the team side tonight, Team Emo(tions) squeaked past Hawaii 5-0 to take the gold plate in the very competitive Girl's race.  With the Boy's race, it came down to the second half runners with Team Red claiming the coveted Cardinal Cup as Team Black and Team White tied for 2nd close behind.

It was a fun night and one that we hope to build on as the years continue.

Thanks
Denny

Team Pictures

This Friday, Oct. 8th, will be our team pictures.  We will be doing them at a different location than in the past, and we will be at Thorpe Park.  Please follow along with these directions: text PGKE88482 to 90738. That will enable you them to view and order any photos that they like.

Also, I have mentioned this to the runners already, but we are going to have practice on Saturday morning his week.  With the Conference Meet being on a Wednesday next week, it cuts out a day for us to get our last hard workout in before the race. So, we will be at the track on Saturday, starting at 8:00am.

Lastly, just a reminder that if you'd like to order a Conference T-shirt, you need to do so today.  Please go to this link to order: https://ccnwsc2021.itemorder.com/shop/sale/

Schedule Changes

A couple of schedule changes have been made for the remainder of the season that are marked in red on the schedule on the right side of the blog.

1st, as mentioned in the previous post, we will be moving the start time of the Cardinal Cup/HOKA time trial up to 7:00pm next Wednesday at Cardinal Stadium.

2nd is that the JV runners will be racing the section course/meet the day after the Section 7AAA Meet, still at Anoka though.  In years past the JV runners would race right after the Varsity would, but when we were shifted to a new section that race was eliminate (not all sections run JV races).  More detail is still to be coming our way, but wanted you to be aware that a date was decided, as was the location.  Varsity will be the top 7, everyone else will race in JV.

Thanks,
Denny
