Homecoming Football Run

Here is the route for tomorrow's Homecoming Football Run that the Boys will be running: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UoMCWvdB55hh0K7yAZ3d6Ty5JClkdtii/view?usp=sharing

This is a tradition that we started about 15 years ago, and is a way for the CC Runners to have their part of Homecoming.  What it is is that we will run the game ball for the football game from the opposing school.  All members of the team help out with it.  When it is a shorter distance (say 5-6 miles) the whole team runs together.  But, when it is a longer distance we do it in a relay fashion, with the team divided into groups and having a set course to run.  The game ball is then passed on between the groups as the ball is made its way to mid-field before the game starts.  The whole team will run the last 1/2 mile together and out onto the field.

How it will work this year is that all of the Boys will be excused from school at 12:10 (lunches will need to be brought with if missing lunch) and our bus will leave at 12:30 to bring us to Cambridge.  Then, the Boys will be put into groups of 3 or 4 and will have an assigned segment of 4-5 miles that they will run.  The bus will bring the runners to each stop on the route and drop off/pick up the groups.  I will be biking the whole course with the runners to help with following the correct route as well as traffic control.  We will also have a few reflector vests and blinking lights, but if others have their own they should bring those as well.

We are working on getting a coach bus so they will have a better chance of Wifi, but we would like for them to bring their school work so they can be doing homework when they are not running.

As for the Girls, they will be having practice at the regular time (It will be something more fun) and we have also always invited the Senior Girls to join us as they enter the field (their choice if they go out).

I think this covers it all, but if there are any questions, please let me know,

Thanks,

Denny
