Health and Iron Deficiencies

Good Evening!
As we start to get ready for the summer training months and as we approach the new Cross Country season, there is an item that we want to make sure everyone is aware of that we have added to on the blog, and that is our information and recommendations on Iron Deficiency. We as Coaches feel we all need to be more aware of this item with our runners, since they are putting so much into their work and runs, as well as growing and being a part of other activities/work as well, that we want to make sure they are healthy and performing at their best!

This past year we have had a few athletes that had Iron/Ferritin levels checked due to their struggles and were found to be low enough to be prescribed an Iron supplement and to take some time off to help get their levels higher.  This is something physically that can easily be mistaken, so we want everyone to please read through the info and articles that we have posted on our blog to be more aware of signs.

I am including a link to the same information below, but please note that this information and all of the articles are always on the right side of the blog under Health and Nutrition:

Iron Depletion and Ferritin Levels

If there are any questions, please let me or one of the other Coaches know.  We want to make sure that all of the athletes we get to work with are as healthy as can be and can be able to put forth their best efforts!

Thanks
Denny
